Lake Almanor Hex Hatch 2024 Recap: Epic Dry Fly Action, Bass Boat Adventures & What's Next!
The 2024 Lake Almanor Hex Hatch delivered unforgettable evening hatches, diverse catches, and exciting updates from guide Mario. Despite a delayed report due to a new website launch, Mario shares highlights from a season that included warm water temps, stormy interludes, and productive fishing windows from June 15 to July 2. This year marked a return to power boating, thanks to the generous loan of “The Big Sipper,” and opened new opportunities for targeting early fish and exploring remote spots.
While dry fly action was hit or miss, some evenings lit up with epic rises, and a secret go-to fly stood out—even amid heavy bug activity. Clients caught everything from rainbow trout and smallmouth bass to catfish and brown trout. Morning trips were a new addition, with potential to expand in 2026 thanks to a planned boat upgrade.
Looking ahead: stay tuned for a Yeti cooler giveaway, new trip offerings (hello, smallmouth bass!), and exclusive fly/depth/location tips via Mario's $5/month Patreon.
