Trinity River Guided Fly Fishing Trips

Chase wild steelhead and native trout on Northern California’s iconic Trinity River—guided by locals, fueled by tacos, and dialed for good times.

The Trinity River (originally called the Hoopa or Hupa by the Yurok, and hun’ by the Natinixwe/Hupa people) is a major river in northwestern California in the United States, and is the principal tributary of the Klamath River. The Trinity flows for 165 miles through the Klamath Mountains and Coast Ranges, with a watershed area of nearly 3,000 square miles in Trinity and Humboldt Counties. Designated a National Wild and Scenic River, along most of its course the Trinity flows swiftly through tight canyons and mountain meadows.

Closest Airports: Redding (RDD) or Sacramento (SMF)

We recommend flying into Sacramento for best rental car options and scenery on the drive up. Redding is closer, but limited. Either way, the road to fish is part of the adventure.

Trinity River Guided Fly Fishing Trips

Book

The river is known for its once prolific runs of anadromous fish, notably Chinook salmon and steelhead, which sustained Native American tribes for thousands of years.

It’s a wonderful place to get a chance of hooking into a steelhead on the fly. Taco Fly Co. originated here and is one of the other places we like to call home. Most of the fishing will be had from Lewiston, CA down to Del Loma, CA depending on the time of the year.

ALL YEAR ROUND fishery

We use indicator and swing techniques on the fly to chase these amazing fish. This is an ALL YEAR ROUND fishery with Fall and Winter being the most popular times of the year to chase the steel.

This is where we learned to enjoy these rivers “FOR THE FLOAT OF IT!” Check out our old videos here to see how we’ve fallen in love with this place.
