Searching the Sierras for Taco Stands...and fishing for LCT's too
There has got to be a hidden taco stand way up high. I can feel it. They probably have Pastor rotating on the spicket, served up with some pineapple and homemade tortillas. Maybe it's on the PCT? Perhaps someone wanted to leave the hustle and bustle of the city to start providing the savory flavor of greasy carne asada doused with cliantro and onion to the wary hikers passing through the moutains.
We decided it was time to search. Well, we also decided we would go fishing while we were at it. Now I can't necessarily say exactly where we went, but we fished the Truckee River headwaters. How about that? Is that enough for you to google. Now we were on a Taco hunt, but you might want to go on a Lahontan Cutthroat trout hunt. To each his own you know.
Right away we found LCT's. No taco stand. But LCT's living in a small stream during our search. GRABBY! And really aggressive. Whatever you preferred, dries, small streamers, and nymphs. I preferred nymphing. Either a high stick approach or simply hiding behind a bush and stripping it through a small pool. It was loaded. And these fish are pretty. I am talking beautiful. Wild little LCT's just ruling the little river. Don't think you can just walk on a hole and start fishing it. You have to be stealth. You got to be smooth and you can't smell too bad. They seem to
