Lower Sac SuperFudge - 10/26/24

What a float! I had a great last day for this first stint out on the Trinity for my 24/25 season while fishing with a new client out on the Lower Sac. This first week had more Lower Sac trips than I usually intend to have this time of the year but it was also very fun considering how low & clear the Trinity has been. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of fish in the Trinity at this time, it's just LOW AND CLEAR. Tough fishing conditions if it's sunny and if there is a lot of boats. Therefore, a lower sac day isn't too bad to build up the ole' confidence and stoke while on the oars.

The Lower Sac...decided to do another evening float based upon what I encountered last week. A lot of caddis in the evening and it was the best decision I could have made as midday was eh' again. Just like regular fishing, not Lower Sac 'when it's good' fishing. Now in this report, you'll get the top layer details of the trip. And in the paid report, you'll get all the JUICY details. I hope to make theses free entries fun and entertaining though...cuz I am crazy. I think I just get crazier when I am out here on the river, in the woods, alone, shitting in a bucket, taking showers outside, with the fruit flies...oh the fruit flies. Okay, back at it. We hammered em'! I had to look at the river a bit differently and not hit the same slots as everyone else. When I got there, there was a float-zilla but I wasn't to perturbed as there is plenty of river to be had and it worked out in my favor. Also was stoked because I had a solo cholo dude in the boat who has been with other guides but liked my branding so decided to hit me up for a float. That's rad! He finished the day off with some fine trout to the net and we got OWNED a few times. So awesome. It was HOT too. Felt like it was 90 but it was acutally only 75. Water conditions were solid too and staying for the evening bite was the ticket. We even swung up a fish on the soft hackle again and he was stoked! Caddis rising everywhere, mayflies, and midges. Midday hatch was good, then it died, and then it came back at around 3:30. SOLID FISH! Good vibes. Here are some pics from my new fancy lens I got with over-edited photographs. ENJOY and be sure to check out the JUICY report for exact details about the trip and Trinity River water conditions reports.

Sooooo anyways, the Trinity starts back up next week and then it's pretty much the Trinity here on out. As I type this, there are clouds outside and a little bit of rain hit us in little Lewiston last night. Today would be a fun day to fish! I mean it is a Sunday, so more people on the water...but I bet today would be great. BUT I AM OUT! Just for a few day to head home and get away from the fruit fly infestation in my house. Last time I was here, it was a barn mouse, I killed him...and now it's fruit flies. There is always something here at the Steelhead shack. One time, it was a skunk literally scratching to get into my place at my front door. At least now I have an outdoor shower and hot water in the sink. Well, when the hose is not frozen outside. See ya next time.
