If you’ve ever cracked a beer at the trailhead or fished until sunset in soggy waders, you’re already part of the club.

The Shift in the Fly Fishing Industry

2018 was epic. It was an amazing year and super excited for what’s ahead. We decided to end the year with a trip to Pyramid Lake. It was epic. Stayed in one of the trailers in Crosby’s Lodge, made tacos, drank special beers, and tied flies.

Mario nailed it today. Got me and my grandsons our first fish with a fly pole. He was so cool to my grandson. Could not recommended him more. Clean boat ready to 🐟 🐠 🎣 🐡 had a great time. Caught more then I could count. Sweeeet day

I had an awesome time fishing with Mario and Taco Fly Co! We had a blast catching Rainbow Trout in the Lower Sacramento. Mario goes above and beyond to put his clients on fish and makes the trip enjoyable. Can’t wait to do it again!

Mario is a wonderful, experienced and easy going guide. We had a great time and caught some nice fish. Would recommend and will be booking again for my next trip!

I had a fantastic 1/2 day trip on the Feather River wet wading with Mario in Aug 2020. Mario taught me 2 new techniques: 1. Euro-nymph (his rod/reel) and 2. New Zealand indicator nymphing with my equipment. We had an epic trip and I brought in 17 trout (way above my typical average!). I highly recommend Mario- you will have a great experience.

Mario and Taco Fly Co are the best! I've been on several trips with Mario now and can not speak highly enough. Mario goes above and beyond for his clients experience. I would absolutely recommend anyone new or experienced and even kids to take a steelhead trip with Taco fly co. I can not wait for my next trip!

On Saturday, 4/20 I had the pleasure of fishing with Mario at Lake Almanor. Throughout the trip, he patiently imparted his wisdom, teaching me new tips and techniques that elevated my fly fishing game. He made sure to answer any questions I had and tailored the trip to what I had requested. We shared a lot of laughs and he worked hard to get us on the fish.

Had such a wonderful day on the Trinity with Mario and Taco Fly Company. They took great care of us, and we had tons of fun catching fish. Thanks Mario, and look forward to our next outing!!

What an incredible day! I gifted my husband a drift boat trip with @tacoflyco for his birthday and boy did Mario deliver! He got us on fish on the very first run and then we stayed on them all day! The trout were on fire and we doubled up twice which made it so fun. Mario knows the river and is an incredible instructor! If you are looking for a super chill fun fishing trip please hit up Mario! We will definitely be booking with him again!

I cannot say enough good things about Mario. My sister and I had never gone fly fishing before and he took us and my dad on a trip I will never forget. He was extremely helpful in setting us up with the rods and teaching us how to lure fish in. He knew all the best spots and all of us caught multiple fish.

Mario is the best an extremely professional, flexible, fun, and knowledgeable guide. My buddy who is new to fly fishing and myself went out on the Trinity with Mario. He taught my buddy all of the basics and made sure that he was doing things correctly all through out the day. He also answered my questions the whole entire day allowing me to really learn a ton. He is extremely attentive to his clients and works harder to get his clients on fish than any guide I have ever fished with.

Mario has the best attitude. Super patient , always laid back , keeps the stoke super high . He taught me so much in one day that will last a lifetime of fishing . I would recommend him to experts and novice fishermen. Thanks for a great day brother also thanks for loaning me a jacket on a rainy day!

My wife and I went out on the Trinity River with Taco and had an unforgettable experience. Mario was such a good kind guy with a great personality. He was great at instructing my wife on everything throughout the day. He knows the Trinity like the back of his hand and knows where the fish hold. We both caught fish, he provided us a tasty lunch, and we had tons of fun. We will most definitely fish with Taco Fly Co. in the future.

Had the best time fishing with Mario. First time fly fishing and first time on the Trinity was amazing. Mario showed us all the techniques we would need to know and was patient while we got things sorted out. He knows the river and he shares his passion for it. Most importantly, he got us on the fish! Landed a beautiful steelhead on my first trip out and I’m hooked!! Can’t wait to get back up and fish with Taco Fly Co. again!

Mario took myself and a friend on a float on the lower sac. It was our first time on the river and the trip blew our expectations out of the water! We are both new to fly fishing and Mario had us in fish ALL DAY. Mario tied bugs on faster than any guide I’ve seen and was a beast on the oars. At the end of our float, he even took us back to the top to get to some of the most productive water again. We then hooked and landed a monster 23” rainbow!

Wow! What a day fly fishing with Mario down the Trinity River on 6-9-22. He is an excellent Guide. Caught lots trout/steelhead throughout the day. Scenery was fantastic. The provided lunch was delicious. Had a great time and will do it again. His boat we floated in handled the river confidently.

Professionalism isn't an easy standard to meet. Regardless of the industry, it requires intelligence, planning, and experience in spades. Mario has all three of these by the boatload- but so do other guides I've worked with. I've taken trips captained by people with two decades of experience, and at the end of the day I haven't had a good time sitting in a boat with a stranger.

Had an amazing time wading on the Trinity River with Mario this weekend. Mario, not only put us on adult Steelhead, but he really took the time to show us what we need to do to catch these fish. I highly recommend anyone booking a trip with Taco Fly Co if you want to catch Steelhead and have a great time while doing it. I will be booking trips with Mario in the future.

Mario took my dad and I on a half-day fly fishing tour in the Plumas County. We were taught casting techniques correlated with the different poles (Roll, euro-nymph, indicator) and he had us getting bites and both caught fishes within minutes. Mario is very knowledgeable about Plumas County and clearly knows his fish. I definitely recommend him to anyone who wants a quality day catching some fish in the beautiful mountains.

My wife and I fished the Feather River with Mario and had a great time. Got to try Euro nymphing and loved it. We caught plenty of trout and learned a few things, as well. Next up will be lower Sacramento River with Taco Fly. Mario makes it fun.

Best fishing experience of my life. One of my best friends and I hooked into several Steelhead during a full day float with Mario on the Trinity. Her and I were laughing the whole time and learned a bunch in the process … will fish with Mario every year for as long as we can!
