Trinity River Steelhead Fishing Report February 11 – 14, 2026

Man holding steelhead

A little bit of rain and she came alive! You might be wondering why this report is so late. I am wondering as well, but I needed a break from all things fishing and focused on getting home and going snowboarding. I am back from the mountain shred bro so it’s report time.

Sorry for the delay…hope you got to hit the river when that last storm cycle came through. We were able to fish the little storm that came through on the 10th and wow, just wow.

The Mikeys were the lucky guys to get the perfectly timed winter trip. Flows came up behind my house just 20cfs but that enough to get these fish on the grab. Both Mikeys got their first steelheads and got them fairly quickly too! And caught multiple fish as well. Epic trip for these guys and so stoked they got to see what the river is like when we get a little weather.

Next few days, it was back to low and clear. Had to find them hiding in holes and approach the water just the same as before. Stealthy, small bugs, etc etc. Read the last report for details about low and clear…

BUT! I stayed positive knowing I was coming to the end of my three week stint on the river. I was going to try my hardest to find some fish hiding near rocks. And that’s where they were after that little bump, right next to big rocks. Multiple passes through runs was how we got em’. Staying away from other boats was imperative. That was a bit tough as we saw a big group of people show up for the weekend after the rain showed up.

I was thinking about it, all these guys showed up on or around Valentines Day…they must have some cool girlfriends…or they are lonely, and single….HA! Not my clients, all my guys were locked up with lady’s and just had the support of their significant other to go enjoy the great outdoors. Thanks rad ladies for letting us dummies try to catch fish in the cold.

I will finish this report with a story about Ray. He came out with Jesse for a half day on V-day and wow, just wow. He put on a clinic. 82 years young and still shredding on the river. Stoked we were able to find a couple of bucks that were almost identical in the same hole. I’ve been looking for these fish for a minute…hell the last 3 weeks I was here! And he got them on consecutive casts, one on the swing (with a bobber) and one right when it hit the water. So rad.

Not a bad way to finish off this three weeks on the prettiest river on the planet. Yeah, I said it. No place I’d rather be.

I am headed back this next weekend to really finish it off. Maybe the water will be perfect, maybe it will be low and clear…I don’t give a shit. I am just glad I am here.
